OnePlus has officially rolled out the Android 16 Beta 2 update for its OnePlus 13 smartphone, marking it as the first device outside of Google’s Pixel lineup to receive the early software. While this update brings a glimpse of what’s next for Android, it’s not intended for everyday users.

According to OnePlus, the beta release is specifically designed for developers and experienced users who are comfortable navigating bugs and incomplete features. Those who rely on their OnePlus 13 for daily use are advised to skip this build for now, as it contains several known issues.
Some of the problems reported in this beta version include a blurry camera viewfinder, lag on the lock screen, and occasional restarts when calls are answered using a Bluetooth headset. Other bugs involve crashes when switching to Macro mode in the camera app and screen freezes triggered by accessibility shortcut actions.
The update is not universally available. Owners of the OnePlus 13R are currently excluded, and the beta cannot be installed on OnePlus 13 units purchased through Verizon or T-Mobile. These restrictions apply to ensure the update is tested only on compatible, unlocked models.
This early release comes as Google prepares to launch Android 16 ahead of schedule, with the stable version potentially arriving in June. While Pixel devices have been the primary testing ground so far, OnePlus stepping in signals the broader rollout of Android 16 is approaching.
OnePlus shared the news in a community forum post, confirming that the Android 16 Beta 2 is the first public test version made available for its flagship device. With more updates expected in the coming weeks, those eager to explore Android 16’s features should keep an eye on future builds, especially once the software becomes stable and more widely accessible.
