A recent rumor circulating on X (formerly Twitter) claims that the Apple Watch Series 10 might have featured a groundbreaking new sensor for blood sugar monitoring. This leak, shared by the user “Stella-Fudge” , includes images of what is said to be a prototype of the device. While the official Series 10 brought minor updates, such as a larger screen and thinner design, this prototype reportedly had much more ambitious features.

The leak showcases an Apple Watch that closely resembles the Series 10 but with noticeable differences. The most significant of these is a large, circular sensor on the back of the device, which seems to be intended for monitoring pulse. This design contrasts with the current Series 10, which has more spread-out sensors. Additionally, the prototype has smaller sensors clustered in the middle of the back, surrounded by a ring of light—though its exact function remains unknown.
One of the images also shows a screenshot of the device, identifying it as the “Apple Watch Series 10 (GPS)” running a beta version of watchOS 11.1. The build number listed, 22R5575x, suggests it’s an unreleased version between watchOS 11.1 beta 5 and the final release.
While this prototype looks promising, it’s unclear whether the blood sugar sensor was meant to be a final feature or just an experimental addition that didn’t make it to the final product. Apple has yet to confirm or deny the details, so for now, this remains an unverified rumor.
