BYD has officially launched the Qin L EV, a feature-packed mid-size electric sedan aimed at younger drivers. With a starting price of just 119,800 yuan (around $16,500), this model offers cutting-edge technology, strong performance, and an extended driving range, making it a competitive choice in the EV market.
Powerful Performance & Extended Range

The Qin L EV comes in three trims, offering driving ranges of 470 km and 545 km. Buyers can choose between two motor configurations: a 110 kW (148 hp) motor with 220 Nm of torque or a more powerful 160 kW (215 hp) version with 330 Nm of torque. Both are paired with BYD’s Blade lithium iron phosphate battery packs, available in 46.08 kWh and 56.64 kWh capacities.
The acceleration is impressive, with the base model reaching 50 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, while the high-performance variant achieves it in 3.1 seconds. Fast charging technology enables the battery to go from 30% to 80% in just 24 minutes. Energy efficiency is also a strong point, with power consumption rated at just 10.8 kWh per 100 km under normal conditions.
Smart Technology & Safety Innovations
Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo, the Qin L EV boasts a sleek “Loong Face” design and measures 4720 mm in length, 1880 mm in width, and 1495 mm in height, with a spacious 2820 mm wheelbase. A 5.4-meter turning radius ensures easy maneuverability, even in tight city spaces.
One of the standout features is BYD’s advanced “God’s Eye” C (DiPilot 100) system, which utilizes a sophisticated three-camera setup for intelligent driving assistance. This includes highway navigation, emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and autonomous parking. To enhance safety and automation, the vehicle is equipped with five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 12 cameras. Over-the-air (OTA) updates will also introduce features like memory navigation and sentry mode.
Modern Interior with Smart Features

Inside, the Qin L EV is designed for a high-tech, comfortable experience. The base model includes an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel. Higher trims upgrade to a larger 15.6-inch central display, a 12-inch W-HUD (head-up display), and even a built-in refrigerator with heating and cooling functions.

Additional conveniences include 50W wireless phone charging, remote vehicle control via mobile devices, keyless entry, and a six-speaker sound system. The driver’s seat is adjustable in eight ways, while the front passenger seat offers four-way adjustments. Cargo space is also generous, with a 460L rear trunk and an additional 65L front compartment.

With a combination of affordability, advanced features, and a long-range battery, the BYD Qin L EV is set to make a strong impact in the growing electric vehicle market.
