Chinese automaker BYD has officially launched its high-performance luxury sedan, the Yangwang U7, delivering an astonishing 1,287 horsepower at a competitive price. Positioned as a flagship model under the Yangwang brand, the U7 combines cutting-edge technology with powerful performance, making it one of the most exciting EVs on the market.

Equipped with a quad-motor all-wheel-drive system, the U7 generates an impressive 1,239 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds. The sedan is powered by a massive 135.5-kWh battery, offering a range of up to 447 miles on China’s CLTC cycle. Additionally, ultra-fast 500 kW charging capabilities make recharging quicker than ever.
Luxury and innovation define the U7’s interior. Passengers can enjoy premium red Nappa leather seats with built-in massage functions, foldout tables, a mini fridge, and a high-tech digital experience. The cockpit features a 23.6-inch driver display, while rear passengers benefit from twin 12.8-inch screens and temperature-controlled armrests.

Advanced driving assistance is another highlight of the U7. BYD has introduced its “God’s Eye” system, a Level 2 autonomous driving suite that enhances safety and convenience. The sedan also features rear-wheel steering for improved maneuverability and a cutting-edge DiSus-Z suspension system, which stabilizes the car even in the event of a tire blowout.
For buyers looking for an alternative to a fully electric vehicle, a plug-in hybrid variant is also available. This version maintains the four-motor setup but integrates a 52.4-kWh battery with a turbocharged flat-four engine, extending its range to an impressive 621 miles.
Currently, the Yangwang U7 is set to be exclusive to the Chinese market, with no confirmed plans for an international launch. However, its combination of high performance, luxury, and advanced technology positions it as a strong contender in the global EV landscape.
