Figure has made significant progress with its humanoid robot, unveiling a new walking style that looks more natural and fluid. In a recent video, the company showcased its updated Figure 02 model, which moves with realistic strides, a major improvement from the stiff, awkward movements of its earlier version. This enhancement makes the robot more practical for use in workplaces and homes.
The company is preparing for a big year, with plans to scale up production and expand commercial deployments. Figure also confirmed that its robots will soon be tested in home environments, a goal that was accelerated by rapid advancements in its AI model, Helix. CEO Brett Adcock stated that the AI is progressing faster than expected, allowing home testing to begin this year—two years ahead of schedule.
The Figure 02 robot stands 5 feet 6 inches (168 cm) tall, weighs 154 pounds (70 kg), and can run for about five hours on a single charge. It has already been tested at a BMW facility in South Carolina, where multiple robots were used to assist in assembling vehicle chassis by positioning sheet metal parts into fixtures.
Figure’s long-term vision is to develop humanoid robots that take on dangerous or repetitive tasks, improving efficiency and allowing people to focus on more meaningful work. The company believes AI-powered humanoids can create a better quality of life for future generations.
