Huawei has introduced the FreeBuds 6, the latest addition to its true wireless earbuds lineup, bringing significant advancements in sound quality, AI noise cancellation, and design. Launched alongside the Pura X foldable smartphone, these earbuds refine their predecessor’s features while offering a lighter, more compact design.
The FreeBuds 6 retain the signature waterdrop shape of the previous generation but now come with a 12% smaller stem and an overall 9% weight reduction, making them even more comfortable for extended use. Internally, the earbuds are equipped with a four-magnet dynamic unit and dual drivers, delivering crisp highs up to 48 kHz and deep bass reaching 14 Hz for an immersive listening experience.

Connectivity is another major upgrade. The FreeBuds 6 support 2.3 Mbps bandwidth, ensuring a stable and high-quality audio experience. Huawei developed the sound profile through extensive research, gathering feedback from over 10,000 users to fine-tune the audio optimization and ensure a natural listening experience.
These earbuds work seamlessly with the Huawei AI Life app, allowing users to customize EQ settings, including two exclusive sound modes designed specifically for FreeBuds 6. The app also enables Head Tracking Spatial Audio, though this feature is currently limited to select Huawei smartphones and the native Huawei Music app.

Battery life has been improved as well. Each earbud contains a 39.5 mAh battery, while the charging case houses a 510 mAh battery, delivering up to 5.5 hours of playback on a single charge and up to 36 hours with the case. However, enabling AI noise cancellation reduces battery life by 20-25%.
Speaking of noise cancellation, Huawei has incorporated generative AI-powered multi-channel noise reduction, effectively filtering out unwanted background sounds, even in environments as loud as 95 dB or windy conditions with speeds up to 8 m/s. This makes the FreeBuds 6 ideal for various noisy settings, from crowded parties to outdoor workouts and even construction sites.

The FreeBuds 6 also introduce Huawei’s AI assistant, Xiaoyi, exclusively available in China. Users can set alarms, control music, access live translation, and receive navigation assistance through voice commands.
Available in White, Black, and Purple, the Huawei FreeBuds 6 are priced at CNY 999 ($140/€125) and are already available for purchase in China. Global availability details are expected soon.
