MG has officially introduced its latest electric hatchback, the new MG4 EV, marking its first global model for 2025. This next-generation EV is set to replace the current MG4 Electric, which struggled with sales in China, and will compete against rivals like the BYD Dolphin and Wuling Bingo.
The newly unveiled MG4 EV sports a modern design with a light purple body, white roof, and sculpted fenders that enhance its aggressive look. The front features sleek LED headlights and a trapezoidal air intake, while the rear showcases a roof spoiler, a minimalistic bumper, and arrow-shaped taillights connected by an LED strip. Instead of flush door handles, MG opted for traditional knobs, prioritizing practicality over aerodynamics.
Under the hood, the new MG4 EV is powered by a 120 kW (161 hp) electric motor, slightly less powerful than its predecessor, which came with a 125 kW (168 hp) motor and an optional 315 kW (422 hp) all-wheel-drive version. The car has a top speed of 160 km/h and is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery from Rept Battero Energy. However, MG has yet to disclose the battery capacity.

With dimensions of 4,395 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width, and 1,551 mm in height, the MG4 EV is 108 mm longer than the outgoing model and features a 2,750 mm wheelbase. It also comes with 17-inch five-spoke wheels and an independent rear suspension.
MG, originally a British brand and now owned by China’s SAIC, has seen limited success in its home market but performs well internationally. The new MG4 EV aims to strengthen the company’s presence worldwide as it gears up for 2025.
